FLOOR INSTALLATION

One of our specialties is blending new flooring into existing flooring. Oregon Select Wood Floors installs all aspects of wood flooring including unfinished, reclaimed, solid-prefinished, engineered-prefinished, cork, bamboo, and staircases. We can install over concrete and in basements, and over radiant-heat systems.

REFINISH

Oregon Select Wood Floors has over 30 years of combined experience in the refinishing of wood floors. We have a long list of satisfied customers and have most likely done work in your neighborhood and would be happy to provide you with references.

Oregon Select's refinishing process begins with sealing off the work area. We then sand as needed to remove the existing finish and to create a flat surface. At this stage the floor is filled with latex wood filler, and after it dries we progressively sand your floor to a 100-120 grit smoothness, vacuum, and apply either a natural sealer or stain. For stained floors, we apply an additional sealer coat to protect the color. After the sealer is applied, we lightly buff the floor for smoothness and to get the sealer ready for finish. We then apply two coats of Bona® commercial satin floor finish, or the finish that you’ve specified.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE? DO I NEED TO MOVE OUT OF MY HOUSE?
Refinishing your wood floors has become easier than ever thanks to the improvements made in the quality of water-based finishes, quick-dry stains, and a new generation of dust-containment systems. Oregon Select Wood Floors can usually finish a 500 square foot job in 2-3 days, and almost all residential jobs can be completed within a 5 day work week. We collaborate with you on the finishing schedule, and if needed, apply the coats in the morning so that by late afternoon the floor can be walked on in stocking feet. Furniture can be moved back onto your new floors in 48 hours after the final coat, and a free floor cleaning kit is complimentary with every project.

BUFF AND COAT

Buff and coat, recoat, and screen and coat are all terms used to describe a light sanding and new finish coat(s) for your wood, bamboo, or cork floors. A buff and coat is a highly recommended maintenance procedure that should be done every 3-5 years, or when the flooring starts to show signs of wear. A buff and coat basically cleans and “roughs-up” the top-layer of finish, removes surface scratches from the old finish, and adds durability and consistency in sheen to the floor. Oregon Select Wood Floors uses a dust-containment system and most projects take less than a day.
